Yatie Aziz (Invisible Cities - BAUCIS)

1) Mysterious Baucis: 'The slender stilts that rise from the ground...'
"It portrays the endless limits of Baucis as it is first encountered. The growth surrounding the stilts immediately captures the age of the city. The slightly Mayan architecture represents its ancient style."

2) Clouded City (Towering Stilts): '... lost in the clouds...’
"Demonstrating the sheer scale and size of the stilts, this drawing reveals how high this city is, as it towers into screaming heights above the forest. Isolated and concealed in the clouds, the journey up to Baucis is perfectly discouraging to prying eyes."

3) Cityscape Baucis (Suburban): '... when the days are sunny...'
"This cityscape approaches a view of civilization and how sophisticated Baucis’ inhabitants might or might not be. It almost feels surreal how frail, ancient stilts support a whole society. Spyglasses and telescopes are used by the people for observing and admiring the earth closely."

4) Baucis Village: 'Nothing of the city touches the earth...'
"Adopting a more subtle scene, this drawing depicts a more ancient village. Using trees clutching the city shows Baucis’ mutual existence with the Earth."

5) Family Hut: '... contemplating with fascination their own absence..."
"These huts show the culture of the Baucis’ inhabitants and their reliance on ladders and telescopes. The fact that they use trees and wooden stilts to support their city ties in with the fact they resort to plantings and recreational activities atop structures, which signify their interest, respect and fascination towards the Earth."
