Fritz Haeg's website

Doing some research for my last project about edible gardens, I came across this website. Fritz Haeg is an experienced architect and has many interesting projects going on. I found that the Edible States and the Animal States are the two sections which relate most to our degree. The website is filled with information that could be used as precedents.

Archinet : School Blog Project.

A chance to see work and opinions of architecture and urban design students around the world. They are trying to create a link between the academic institutions.

Manchester Society of Architects Annual Design Awards 2010 - CUBE

I went to visit this exhibition in the CUBE Gallery and I found it interesting. The exhibition is at the same time a competition to reward architects in the area. There were around 70 boards and what I found the most useful was seeing all the different ways of presenting design ideas, the use of models, a1 design boards and digital media. I took note of the layout to use it as a template for my portfolio.

Concept ideas, sketches and perspectives

Cross section.

Model appears to be cut using the laser cutting machine. (Apparently, we have one on the ground floor of the Chatham Building).

Ecobuild 2010

On the 4th of March I took a trip down to Earl's Court to see the ecobuild exhibition . Although, perhaps aimed more towards buyers the range of products and information on offer was rather useful; lots of facts and figures . An infinite number of stalls were set-up where companies and practices displayed their new sustainable infrastructure ideas and demonstrated green technologies . Conferences and seminars were also put on, unfortunately I missed these but recently received and email with a link to them.

To access click onto the seminars section, you will be asked to register but this only takes a minute and then you are able to access any you like.

Blog Launch

We thought it would be a nice idea to create a blog for us all to share our experiences and ideas. It will be open for everyone to post whatever they so wish.

Be it : research, precedent, personal trips, visits, lectures, exhibitions, links to blogs or websites of interest. Basically it can be seen as an online journal which everyone can share.

Also if people wanted to post their work or arrange critiques we could all help each other. Hopefully this blog will help us to keep in touch with one another and create a studio atmosphere... outside the studio.
